Picking Estates is a residential development in Cumberland County consisting of 29 single family homes and 114 townhomes. The total site is 28 acres with approximately 25% remaining as open space. This project required 115,000 C.Y. of earthmoving. Of that yardage, approximately 65,000 C.Y. was solid limestone that required drilling and blasting for removal. Our project management team got creative with grade adjustments and material utilization to manage the large amount of rock swell generated, and manage our client’s budget. Our field team implemented careful material handling and crushing to utilize the blasted rock as structural fill, trench backfill material, and stone base for roadways, minimizing haul-off.
